Legend has it that much of historic downtown Savannah sits on top of cemeteries, so it should come as no surprise that this city is known for its spooky thrills. The quirky southern city was featured in the book and film “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil,” and you might feel as if good and evil are colliding as you walk along the storied streets draped in Spanish Moss, decorative ironwork, and layers of mysterious history.
A Halloween trip to Savannah wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Mercer Williams House. This was the setting of the real crime that occurred in “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.” You’ll also want to stroll along the Bonaventure Cemetery, and then call it a night at the 17Hundred90 Inn. Stay in room 208 if you dare. That’s where you might find the ghost of Anna Powers, who leaped to her death at the hotel many years ago.
