The 8 Great American Cities When You're in Your Twenties Feb 1, 2016 by Sarah (Awesome Escape Blogger)

Philadelphia, PA

For all of you single twenty-something, Philadelphia a definite hit. Almost two-thirds of the Philadelphia population is unmarried, making it a perfect place to meet someone. There is a huge art scene in the city (which is great for those dates you’ll be planning!) and it’s also a very community-based city. The housing is extremely affordable and really neat and contemporary (such as converted warehouses and lofts!) And, of course, Philadelphia is home to the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich – what more can we say about that?

Cleveland, OH

Cleveland is another city you should go if you’re looking to find that specials someone. 70% of people in Cleveland are single and finding a cool place to go on a date won’t be hard either as the city has a ton of hip pubs and bars! The housing in Cleveland is also very affordable, a whopping 249% less than living in New York if you were wondering. Cleveland has some amazing job opportunities and a really great sense of culture, and if you’re into business, Cleveland has a huge entrepreneurial spirit. This is the place for affordable startups and business opportunities!

Memphis, TN

Memphis is another city where the average starting salary is around $47,000 per year, which is great for any twenty-something just finishing school. Even better, a one-bedroom apartment averages around $650 per month in rent! The weather is great, and the city is full of Southern charm. You won’t get bored when you’re not working, as there are a ton of street festivals and shows. And we didn’t forget the reason you first went to Memphis – Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley. But once you visit Memphis you’ll see why you’ll want to stay.

Baltimore, MD

Baltimore is a recent addition to any list of cities where you’ll want to live. But it’s rapidly become one of the best cities in the United States for twenty-somethings. It’s got an abundance of job opportunities for recent graduates (and a great singles scene.) They have a great art scene that’s transforming the streets into new spaces for exploration and fun. The highlight? The Artscape festival featuring fine artists, fashion designers, and exhibitions with a whopping 350,000 attendees each year.

Ready to pack up and make the move? Whether you’re on the hunt for jobs, school, or love, these eight cities are the best destinations when you’re in your twenties.
