Tossing your diet and exercise program out the window because you are travelling is a sin. And shame on you if you pull that one. It’s time to flip the switch and use the opportunity of travel to change up your exercise and mundane eating into something truly magical. Challenge yourself to stay healthy or even get healthier while abroad. You can do if you set your mind to it. And just think of how fantabulous you’re going to feel when you get back from your travelled all tanned and refreshed and looking excellent. That’s going to make your brain and your body feel fantastic from the inside-out and that means everything. Set yourself up for success and use the following pointers to make certain you stay on track whether you’re away from the norm for a few days, weeks, or months.
Grab A Workout Before You Leave.
What many people don’t take advantage of is that many of the larger airports offer a full workout facility you can make use of to kill time. They even have rental shorts, shirts, socks, and shoes. So you can either arrive extra early to the airport or allow for a longer layover in between flights on purpose, so you can get the cheaper flight option and get your body energized and alive before you hop back on for your next flight. Those endorphins you’re releasing make travelling much more enjoyable.
Pack Your Gear
You don’t need much and don’t you dare use travel as an excuse to forget your shoes. Your runners, a pair of shorts, a t-shirt, and a pair of socks is all you need to get active. Stuff a jump rope and resistance bands into your purse and you have everything you need to get fit every day if you aren’t able to find someplace to exercise. You’ve got to love me for taking your excuses away.
Walk Don’t Bus or Cab it
Where’s your sense of adventure? You don’t need to be cramped up on a bus or cab when you can be using your legs to take in the sights while getting some cardio in. Perhaps you’ll find ruins to climb or maybe a mountain, depending on where you are vacationing. Explore via foot and you’re really doing your body a favor. Run through your exploring and that just gets you brownie points.
Drink Plenty of Water
Especially if you’re in a hot climate, the last thing you want to do is get dehydrated. That’s just not a good thing. Most places have safe drinking water but just be sure before you start guzzling. If the safety is questionable, you should opt for the bottled stuff. Usually, it’s a little pricey abroad but a necessity regardless. 6-8 glasses should be your starting point and when you are working out drink before, during, and after just to make sure you are fueling your energy and your brain properly.
