Whether you travel for business or pleasure (or maybe you've been forced to take a trip to use up those vacation days), travelling is no excuse to give up your exercise and healthy habits. Throwing your exercise programs and meal plans out the window just because you're travelling is a no-no. A lot of people use travel as justification to 'take a break,' but don't be one of those people. It's time to flip that mindset and use the opportunity of travel to change up your exercise and mundane eating routines into something truly magical. Challenge yourself to stay healthy, or better yet, become even get healthier while abroad. It's definitely possible, you just have to set your mind to it. Think about how fantastic you'll feel when you come back looking more radiant than ever before. You'll look and feel amazing from the inside out, and that means everything. Set yourself up for success and use the following tips to make certain you stay on track no matter if you're away for a few days, weeks, or even months.

Grab A Workout Before You Leave

What many people don't know is that many airports around the world offer workout facilities to allow you to work off some steam while you wait for your next flight. Some even have rental shirts, shorts, socks, and shoes to get you in the proper attire. You can either arrive extra early to the airport, or allow yourself a longer layover in between flights to take advantage of cheaper flight options. Then, revitalize your body with a good workout before you hop back on the next plane. Those endorphins you're releasing make travelling much more enjoyable.

Pack Your Gear

You don't need much and you'll probably have an extra pair of shoes for use on your vacation anyways. Your runners, a pair of shorts, a t-shirt, and a pair of socks are all you need to stay active. Stuff a jump rope and resistance bands into your carry-on you'll always have a way of getting your heart rate up without needing a lot of space. See how easy it is?

Walk, Don't Bus or Cab it

Where's your sense of adventure? You don't need to feel cramped on a bus or a taxi when you can be using your legs to get in some cardio while you take in the sights. Perhaps you'll find some ruins to climb or maybe a mountain to explore, but that just depends on where you're visiting. If you own a fitness tracker, getting your steps in is one of the easiest things you can do while you're out visiting a new town.

Drink Plenty of Water

Especially if you're in a hot climate, the last thing you want to do is become dehydrated. Most places have clean drinking water, but just make sure before you start drinking - you might be better off with bottled water. You may have to spend a bit of cash, but you definitely shouldn't put a price on your health - especially if you're away from home. 6-8 glasses of water a day should be your starting point, and when you're working out, make sure you drink before, during, and after your exercise to make sure you are fueling your body and your brain properly.
