The 25 Most Scenic Highways in America Jun 27, 2017 by Amy (Awesome Escape Blogger)
Scenic Byway 12, Utah
If you want to see the best scenery in Utah, hop on scenic Route 12 and take a tour of the rugged state. This 124-mile strip of road only has two entry points, so you’ll need to get on the road seven miles south of Panguitch or in Torrey. Once you’re on the highway, you will travel through what’s left of ancient seabeds, sagebrush flats, and pink and russet stone turrets. You will also get to see one of the highest alpine forests in the world. You will want to rest for a bit during your trip, and you can do just that when you get to Escalante. That’s where you’ll find the Kiva Koffeehouse. It’s located by the Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument, and it serves coffee and food. It also has a full espresso bar so you can get a pick-me-up before resuming your journey.
